AEROMODELLING PACKAGE
CHUCK GLIDERS
Welcome to the World of Hand Launched Gliders!

Introduction:
This section is devoted to helping school children to get started in Aeromodeling. Once the basics are mastered it is hoped that they will graduate in to Control line and Radio Controlled Model Airplanes. Aero-Sports looks forward to the day when India will produce a world champion.
What is Aeromodeling?
The designing, building and flying of model airplanes is referred to as Aeromodeling.
What is a Chuck glider?
It is a simple glider made out of balsa wood that flies gracefully when gently launched/chukked into the air, usually in to the wind by a gentle throw of the hand.
What are the different parts of a model airplane referred to as?
http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/airplane/airplane.html
How does a model airplane fly? There are four forces acting on a body moving through the air such as an airplane. Please refer to the illustration below. The shape of an airplane wing and in particular the shape of the aerofoil influences the amount of lift that is generated to keep the model airplane in flight. The lift is generated due to a pressure difference between the top and bottom of the wing. It is known as Bernoulli’s Theorem. It is highlighted in the illustration at the top of this page.

"KADET" BALSA CHUCK GLIDER DESCRIPTION:
We have created simple five piece Glider Kit for the novice. The kit has everything you need to build and fly a beautiful model glider made out of imported balsa wood. You should be able to make the model in about two hours. The "Kadet" has a wing span of 14 inches and will give you hours of fun. It can be customized by affixing decals/stickers of your choice. Shown above is a glimpse of the test model we have at our workshop. The parts have deliberately been kept large so that the young Aero-modeler can handle it easily. It will easily fly 20 seconds or more and reach distances of 100 feet plus if launched into the wind. The novice modeler should then progress to Rubber Powered models like the "Chipmunk, Wright Flyer" etc. Priced at Rs.500 each, the attractive "Kadet" Chuck Glider kit which makes an excellent gift consists of:
- Balsa parts (5)
- Website based Illustrated Building, Finishing, Trimming & Flying Instructions.
- Modeling knife
- CA-Glue
- Modeling Pins
- Plans
- Plasticine
- Sandpaper Block
- Aero-Sports color brochure
Should you need any assistance in building and flying our various models, please contact us at mrk.menon@yahoo.com or call us at 0487-3252449 . We will be very happy to help you with your project.
